FROM THE SCHOOL OFFICE
Dear TES Families,
It was a great first week of school and it has been a pleasure getting to know all of you and your children! Please join us for Back to School Night on Thursday, October 1st from 5:30-7:30. This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, tour the classroom, and learn more about curriculum, student expectations, homework policies and more! We will have two separate sessions so parents with more than one child are able to get all necessary information. Thanks and I hope to see you there!
Sally Viavada, Principal
Parents, just an FYI if you qualified for free and reduced lunch last school year, you must fill out a new app at the beginning of every school year. Apps were sent out to all students this past Monday and are also available in the front office, or you can apply online at <http://sandi.net/> —Dept— Food Services. Food Services Dept will give you a two week grace period and will start charging a balance afterward if you do not fill out a new one. Any questions please email email@example.com. Thank you!
PTO MEMBERSHIP PACKETS
PTO packets are coming home in your student’s Monday folder on Monday, September 21st. The packet includes: the PTO 2015-2016 calendar, the PTO membership/volunteer form, and specific PTO team volunteer sign up flyers. The membership form is the one and only form your family will need to fill out for the PTO. If you are interested in volunteering and are interested in helping out with any events, programs, or fundraising now or in the future please be sure to indicate your interests on the volunteer portion of the membership form.
ROOM PARENT ORIENTATION DATE CHANGE
Please note that the date of the Room Parent Orientation has changed to Thursday, September 24, at 7:45 am. We apologize for the confusion.
Save the Date! Room Parent Orientation is on Thursday, September 24th at 7:45am in the TES Library. Room Parents are responsible for classroom celebrations, Staff Appreciation Week, and helping out with other teacher initiated classroom activities. Be sure to look out for the Room Parent flyer coming home in your student’s Monday folder on September 14th. Contact Brook Markley with questions. Want to get a jump on paperwork? All TES volunteers MUST complete a 2015-2016 district Volunteer application in the front office and either make sure your TB test is up to date or get a new one. SDUSD accepts TB tests performed within the last 4 years.
Save the Date! The first TES DINE-OUT at Tierrasanta Round Table Pizza is Thursday, September 24th from 11am to 9pm. Twenty percent of all sales made during the event are donated back to TES-PTO. Flyers will be coming home in your student’s Monday folder the week of the Dine-Out on Monday, September 21st. Take a well-deserved day off from cooking and grab lunch or dinner at Round Table on Thursday, September 24th.
PTO EBLAST EMAILS
Eblast emails from the PTO will be sent once a week starting today (usually on Wednesdays) throughout the school year except during school breaks. On occasion the PTO is asked by the TES office to send a separate email notifying parents of situations or events. If you are having problems receiving Eblast emails please contact Kristina Hepburn.
PTO meetings are held on the last Monday of every month at 5:30pm. Our first meeting of the 2015-2016 school year will be on Monday, September 28th. Everyone is welcome to join and we are looking forward to getting to know all of our new families starting this year at TES. Please note that because of the Book Fair taking place in the library that week, the PTO meeting will be held in the TES auditorium. Please contact Kristina Hepburn with any questions.
Fun volunteer opportunity! An Art Corps information session will be held on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:45 AM. Kids love Art Corps and make adorable art! You can help out another volunteer during art lessons, or attend lesson workshops and teach your child’s class. No experience or art background needed. Find out more and decide if this is for you at the information session right after drop-off – 7:45 – 9:00 AM. Coffee provided for extra inspiration. Contact Christie Ashley for more information.
