PTO Weekly Update 2/3/2016

PRINCIPAL CHAT – “Pastries with the Principal and PTO!”

The next Principal Chat is scheduled for Thursday, February 4th at 7:45am in the auditorium – “Pastries with the Principal and PTO!” Curious about what the TES Parent Teacher Organization does for your child? Interested in getting more involved? Looking for ways to improve the school and the enrichment opportunities your child receives? Come join us to hear more about what our PTO does and how you can help! You will be amazed at how a small group of committed individuals can make such a huge difference in the lives of our kids. There will also be additional time for general Q&A with the principal. Hope to see you all there!



Dine Outs have several date changes. Due to places closing, restaurants changing their fundraising programs and the success of the Food Truck there have been some changes to the Dine Out calendar for February and March. Changes are listed below.

Thursday February 18th

Friday March 4th
Food Truck Dine In @ Tierrasanta Elementary

Featuring everyone’s favorite “Devilicious”

5:00 – 7:30

Food Trucks will be set up in the parking lot and a movie set up in the kinder playground.

Bring chairs and/or blankets for a fun family movie.


Thursday March 24th

McDonalds on Tierrasanta Blvd

5PM – 8PM

Date Change to the Jog-a-Thon. The annual Jog-a-thon scheduled for Thursday, March 3rd has been changed to Friday, April 22nd. The volunteers who organize the Jog-a-thon have decided to go a different direction this year. Instead of tapping into all of the volunteer hours it takes to organize and run this Fundraising Event we have decided to hire a company that will do it for us. So this year’s APEX Fun Run will replace the traditional Jog-a-Thon. It is also an in classroom Leadership program that runs for two weeks April 11-22 leading up to the FUN RUN Race Day April 22. So please Save the Date to help cheer on your runners during the race on April 22.  More info to follow as the date gets closer.



The Science Fair is back on! Thank you to Daniel and Destiny Fingleton for taking the team lead. Although March seems far away, it will be here before you know it. March 10th is Science Fair! Now is the time to start thinking and planning what project your student would like to submit. The Science Fair is part of the curriculum for 4th and 5th graders. They will receive instructions from their teachers on how to proceed. TES encourages students in TK-3rd grade to consider submitting their own voluntary project. Look for the sign up form to come home on Monday with more information. Any questions can be directed to Daniel Fingleton.



Popsicles are sold every Friday after school, weather permitting, and sales help support academic and enrichment programs at TES. The cost is $1.00. Small bills are appreciated! Popsicle Coupon Books can be purchased during the Friday sales for $10.00 (10 coupons plus 2 free). Please note that Popsicle sales will not take place on minimum days or the Friday before a holiday break. Thank you to all of the volunteers who help sell every Friday.



The PTO Website is a great way to find out what is happening on the TES campus. If you missed that flyer or want to check on times be sure to add the PTO website to your favorites The website is updated every week with posts and current information from Eblasts. Be sure to add it to your favorites.



THANK YOU TES families for bringing so many redeemable aluminum cans and plastic bottles to our recycling drives each Friday morning.  PLEASE DO NOT bring glass bottles of any sort – we do want the students handling glass.  We are very grateful for all the plastic bottles and aluminum cans you have brought.  They have earned over $450 for the school so far this year.  PLEASE keep them coming.  THANK YOU!  See you on Friday!
