PTO Weekly Update 3/2/2016

This Friday night is a “Dine-In” at TES. Friday, March 4th will be the 2nd Food Truck Dine In event at TES. Flyers were sent home with students in their Monday folders this week. The movie The Good Dinosaur will be shown on the playground again so bring lawn chairs, blankets and join families for a fun and unique dinner outside or pick up food to go and take home. Invite extended family, friends and neighbors to join too. Please feel free to post the flyer to friends, family and neighbors. All the food trucks will be donating a percentage back to TES-PTO from their sales on Friday, March 4th. Thank you for supporting TES – PTO’s Food Truck Dine-In fundraiser. The Science Fair is coming up! Students are working hard at learning about the scientific method of researching and experimenting. See their results when the Science Fair takes place on Thursday, March 10, 5:30-7:30 pm, in the TES auditorium and library. All students, their families and friends are encouraged to view the wide array of exhibits. Your interest will mean a lot to the exhibitors!

A reminder to all Science Fair participants who are diligently working on their projects: Potentially hazardous items are NOT permitted to be on display in the auditorium.  This includes dry ice, live animals, chemicals (ie, vinegar, bleach), or active chemical reactions (ie, erupting volcanoes, Mentos bottle rockets). Also, any liquids MUST be in SEALED, unbreakable containers (this means: NO open vases, bottles, cups or zip-loc bags) or they will be thrown away.

The Science Fair needs volunteers to help setting up tables and marking project paces next Wednesday, 3/9, beginning after lunch until it’s finished.  Help is also needed next Thursday, 3/10 in the morning to help direct 4th and 5th grade students to their project locations and again on Friday, 3/11 beginning at recess time to help clean up.  Please email Daniel Fingleton if you are able to help.

Students in grades TK -3 can drop their projects off in the auditorium next Thursday, 3/10, before school.  Fourth and fifth graders will come to the auditorium with their class shortly after school has started to set their projects up.  If your student requires an oversized space (more than 30″ wide and 14″ deep), an electrical outlet, or you have any other questions, email Daniel Fingleton so that he can make accommodations in project space assignments before next week.

On the evening of the Science Fair, Thursday, March 10th, TES Grab-A-Slice for Science will be offering the chance to feed your family between 5:30-7:00 pm.  Buy a slice of pizza and a lemonade for only $2.00. Whole pizzas will also be available. (Cash or checks  only, please.)  All proceeds benefit the TES Science Program.

Also, volunteers are needed for ½ hour shifts between 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to set up, cashier,  serve pizza, or clean up.  Kids make great helpers, too!  Volunteering with your child is a great way to “give back” to our school.  Please contact Adrienne Prager to say you can help.
